On the one hand, my girlfriend is an RN and considering having us both move to Canada...and Calgary in particular seems in desperate need of health professionals (growing pains) but the conservative AB gov't seems actively intent on dismantling AHS, to the alarm of many HCPs already in Calgary.

One podcast interviewing several HCPs in Alberta I listened to expressed deep concern over retention of existing HCPs in AB, much less expanding the HCP sector because of the ongoing bureaucratic meddling by the provincial Gov't, seen by some as backlash against COVID health measures.

My girlfriend is disinclined to want to move to Alberta (we're both Texans ourselves), but I do think Calgary and Edmonton are reasonably progressive cities in a vast sea of rural & oil/gas industry conservatives. I fell in love with Calgary at first sight last year attending Otafest.
