"The NY ban on courtroom cameras is giving Trump an upper hand, fueling lies and mistrust. If Trump claims something happened when it didn't, reporters can correct him but there's no video evidence to prove the BS. It's already happening."

I can't help but imagine all the mugging Trump would do if the trial were being televised. Playing to the cameras would be right up his alley. After the OJ Simpson trial, with everyone including the judge mugging for the cameras, I'm not so sure televising a trial is always a good idea.

I wonder, though.

If Trump hammed it up for the cameras, whose mind would that change?

But if anyone can see the real footage for themselves, then some minds might change...

So it seems like having cameras would have more upside than downside.

You could be right. I was just badly scarred by the televised OJ Simpson courtroom circus/debacle. But maybe a more experienced and less star-struck judge could make a difference in how it went. Dunno.
