Well, I guess I’m coming back full time now that Post is closing down. I’ve enjoyed this site, but enjoyed having access to paywalled articles for just a few cents over at Post. Oh well, nothing lasts forever, it seems.

I hope some of my birding buddies come over as well. We had a nice community there.

Migration season is upon us.. so much fun in the days ahead. Yesterday, while on vacay in Murrells Inlet, SC, I captured this shot. Black-bellied Whistling Duck. Lifer for me.

great photo! i just spot them & put them on my list. some of our regulars are both black & turkey vultures, little grey egrets, barred owls, barn owls (i've only seen 2), lots of thrushes. i saw my one & only scarlet tanager in the forest across the street from me. now it's a subdivision.

Ugh! I’m in OH so we get the migrating wood warblers and shorebirds. Last year a BBWD came to NW OH but I failed to lacate it. Glad I got the shot now. My hobby is photographing birds. Keeps me busy and not worrying about GOP BS. 😂

i'd like to take photos but can't figure out mechanics. i use binoculars to locate birds. i can't id birds by sound, so i have to spot them. if they're on the move, i have to register the appearance fast & retain it long enough to check my guide & id the bird. when am i supposed to take the pic??

LOLI learned more about birds by photographing. In the time I’ve spent learning them from sight and photography, I can now recognize some birds by sound. Of course, the Merlin Bird ID app helps tremendously!
