Foul Mouthed Redhead

Just for fun. When I was a kid, we used a lot of miracle whip, but I lost my taste for it so now I’m a mayo girl. Recently I had a craving, so I got some. Not bad… not as good as I remember.
So, for no reason at all other than curiosity, mayo or miracle whip?

Mayonnaise

Miracle Whip

Miracle Whip reminds me of sandwich spread.

I too grew up on Miracle Whip and switched to mayo as an adult. Exception being if it’s for potato salad or cold lobster then it needs to be Miracle Whip!

I grew up on miracle whip. Now it’s both too sweet and filled with ingredients that I don’t like to eat. Sometimes add a little balsamic vinegar to mayo to get a hint of sweet. Crazy, I know.

That’s actually a good idea. I’ve made mayo before, I may have to try that sometime. 🤔

If you're lucky enough to have Duke's mayo (original recipe since 1917) where you live, try it. It's the only one I know of with zero sugar or other sweetener in it. Simple ingredients, simply perfect.

Duke's and Blue Plate are the only mayonnaise I will buy. Very similar.

I enjoy them both but had to give them up 20 years ago when they started being made with GMO oils, which make me very sick. Organic mayo costs too much, so now I use sour cream in its place. It works.

Hellman’s/Best Foods Olive Oil Mayonnaise Dressing with Omega 3 and Vitamin E for me.
30% fewer calories than regular mayonnaise if you were wondering. 😊

During my Midwest childhood I thought Miracle Whip was mayo. Wasn't until I moved to PNW that I was educated in the difference. My mother in law had a secret dip recipe and God forbid any MW was ever in her kitchen.

Mom sent me to the store to get mayo.
I came back with a jar of Hellmanns.
I was sent back to the store.

There is now a Hellman’s/Best Foods vegan mayonnaise I’d like to recommend for anyone looking for a mayo alternative
