Amen... Long ago, growing up in GI tract housing w/ kids from active military families, our neighborhoods were such a hodge-podge of "nationalities"... Pledging allegiance to the flag brought kids together + instilled a sense of both pride + community...

I'm 76. when I was 6, a nun in school asked us what nationalities we were and I confidently replied, "American". I'm still trying to figure out why so many of the other kids laughed at me. and yes, I'm still an American.

Do y'all know your ancestry though? My citizenship is USA but I'm mostly descended from 🇬🇧, 🇮🇪, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, & 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

someone gave me one of those Ancestry tests as a gift. I'm mostly a Heinz 57 from mid europe. Still and American and planning to stay that way if I can help it.
