This #earthday also happens to be closing day on the mountain in Park City.

Well Nick, you say, Earth clearly can't be in too bad shape if you're still snow sliding on 4/22.

You make an understandable (if tragically misguided) point. Let me show you what the bottom of the mountain looks like now.

What snow you see is the remnants of the machine made base they blew in Nov, pushed around over the last couple of weeks to keep a skiable path back to the village & parking lot. 100 yards away the golf course is playable.

Over the past ~40 years, the snow season in the Western US has reduced by about 1 day every year. Park City used to host World Cup ski races in early Dec. Those races are now in Beaver Creek where they can at least reliably make snow then. We'll have even less snow as the Great Salt Lake dries up.

Climate change is happening right in front of our eyes, and it's fucking terrifying.

It's mind-blowing to me people in places like this, or in the path of tropical storms increasing in strength & frequency every yr, or under the inevitable cloud of wildfire smoke every summer choose not to see it.
