So…sweetie et moi are reading bed and our youngest son is emptying the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen. He comes up stairs to report bears (plural) on our deck. The photo is bear #2 eating the bird feeder. I was too slow to photo bear #1 when he got on his hind legs and peered into the house.

Believe it or, we’re pretty blaise about bears … we suspect these two were responsible for tipping a neighbor compost boxes last night. The green space behind our house eventually goes down to the Fraser River so one is constantly seeing wildlife. It’s a benefit of life in northern BC!

Yes, I guess you are. One sometimes gets used to Nature, when you're living amongst it. 🥴

Too true…Once I was walking up to the building at the uni where I had my office. It was about 7 am and I’m not paying any attention until I hear a snort to the left. A mama moose and calf where there eating the shrubbery. Mama gave me one of those, “hey you” head nods and I just kept moving.

Wow! She was pretty chill, while having her calf with her. Most wildlife mamas are a force to be reckoned with, when their babies are nearby! 🫢

Exactly. To a degree, perhaps, the moose on campus are somewhat used to seeing human. Or, perhaps, I was fortunate given the the two were maybe 15 meters away.
