It’s a shame they couldn’t find it in themselves to restore voting rights to all nonviolent offenders who have done their time and paid their debt to society. I mean hey, it’s a start, and it’s probably the most egalitarian any Republican legislator could ever stomach being. So there’s that!

Honestly that’s the first place my mind went, as well. I’d like to assume better of people, but anymore, my expectations fall through the sewer grate when I see an “R” next to the name. Particularly in a state Nina Simone famously sang about with some choice words…
