Capitalist nation - so how exactly will he dictate how much these price gouging corporations can charge us?

He is trying to share information and calling for an increase competition.

US is most energy independent it's been in 70 years - the oil nations have been helping trump against renewables...

As for energy Independence, they're exporting most of that so they can keep the prices up. Domestically. Reverse the 2015 bill they passed allowing the US to export domestic petroleum And natural gas.

And using that same logic, it's why Roe has never been codified into law. It's a cudgel they can use to get out the vote.

I just hope enough has been done already that we're not going to settle for the old ways again. https://www.whitehouse.gov/environmentaljustice/justice40/
Not sure I'm explaining well, though. Maybe tomorrow. 4

Are you old enough to remember the Oil Embargo, how people started turning to alternatives, and OPEC went "Shit - we can't let this happen or they won't need our product anymore" and lowered prices? I'd argue refining our own oil shouldn't be our goal, rather getting people hooked on alternatives.3

Second, even if Congress does an about-face and starts subsidizing infrastructure which could handle the type of oil produced here, it's not going to happen fast. But if we can get Biden back into office and keep expanding on the switch to renewables, I'd hope we could moot the refining question. 2

I don't totally follow. First, codifying Roe has been presented to us as the salvation of abortion rights, but they're still vulnerable. The Constitution says that any rights not enumerated belong to the STATES, and with all the originalists on the Supreme Court, they could strike it down again.1
