The direct reports meeting has now turned into a discussion about how old my work laptop is:
* "wow liz's laptop is vintage"
* "she had it before the trump admin!"
* "MAKE LIZ'S LAPTOP WORK AGAIN!"
All this because I had serious technical issues just joining the Zoom...

The thing is, I got this laptop before the policy of restricting admin rights was established. I'm a software engineer. I need admin rights to be able to do my job. I need permissions so I can un f*ck my computer if need be. I know it better than most of the IT department and it's actually annoying

to have to sit back and wait for the tech to do something that you already know how to do, but you are not allowed to because of company policy.
Now, I totally understand why you'd want to lock that down for the majority of your employees. But for certain tech workers, we simply need that access.
