I saw peaceful protest was referred to as terrorism today. Obviously, the people doing that are being hyperbolic and misusing the term Terrorism. With that in mind, this is the same language that has always been used to degrade peaceful protest and aggravate those who hate those who protest.

Protesting peacefully takes many forms. And we have a right to protest, but of course, peaceful protestors are aware that protest may be met with unwarranted violent reprisal from the opposing group, especially the police. Police are used as a weapon against peaceful protest.

What happens when police use violence against peaceful protestors? Well, it tends to turn violent, as expected. This, too, is a tactic. https://ccj.asu.edu/psi-la...

Often this means police will use a tactic known as 'kettling'. It prevents protestors from leaving safely while police also demand they leave. It forces a confrontation. CW: PB uhttps://www.hrw.org/report...

So it's not a surprise that this is still used today, considering there aren't federal laws against these tactics. https://mondoweiss.net/202...

When it comes to racism, it also takes the form in the level of police response and quickness to resort to police enforcement. Colleges have long been a sore spot for those who don't have access to them & for being places of peaceful protest & progressive concepts.

College campuses and Universities are places that both struggle with diversity and inclusion but also eschew it as a virtue in communication, interpersonal relations, and engagement. tenhttps://www.thefire.org/ne...

Not only are campuses the right place to protest peacefully, they are part of the solution to ensuring individuals engaging with the world around them do so safely. Peaceful protestors have always been met with discrimination, dehumanization and backlash. But, peaceful protest is communication.

Peaceful protest is recognized worldwide, thanks to Civil Rights leaders. We use it to communicate. Peaceful assembly and protest are NOT terrorism. https://www.visionofhumani...
