He did use some kind of cold spray, but the needle still hurt. Either it didn't quite sink in as deep as I needed, or it didn't work. No electric stim for me. I had one 10 days ago and it did help, but right now I'm a bit cranky about how much pain the injection itself has left behind!

I have had several in both ankles to help bring them back to health.
The Dr. used several things to drastically reduce the trauma/pain.
1) Electrical stimulation at several points on my ankle.
2) Cold numbing spray for the first injection which was Lydocain to numb the joint.
3) Then Cortisone.

That sucks
So for me the Doc stuck the Lydocain needle in maybe 1/4 and gave it a little juice, waited 30 seconds or so the inserted it another 1/4 inch and another squirt until the needled was placed then the rest of the lidocaine. Left the needle in exchanged the syringes and in went the cortisone

Lidocaine would've helped. If I have to go for a third shot, I'll ask for that first - thanks for mentioning it. Ow. 😟
