We have a municipally owned electric company where I live in California also. We have much better pricing and way fewer outages than the neighboring for-profit utility companies offer. So happy!

I used to live in a MA town with a municipally owned electric company, but we moved unwittingly into a National Grid fiefdom. Let's see, over 30 years electric bill has gone from maybe $42 to $287. Still seems a bit outrageous, especially the National Grid tack-on fees.

It's similar here. We had to live in a neighboring city for 10 months and even though the rates at the time were competitive, the add-ons were ridiculously high. We're finally back to the rational city where the rate is reasonable are there are NO add-on fees at all. We pay for usage only.
