So this morning, thanks to @opusworks , I installed the app, Merlin, from The Cornell Lab. It records and identifies bird songs, and you can also take a picture or even enter some information and it may be able to name the bird.

So man is running in and out yelling, "Bird app." and going back outside to record some bird song, running back in and showing me, then he goes back out to sweep, then he runs back in, "Bird app." and off he goes again.
I may have created a monster.

It is funny how something like this can suddenly change things a small amount.
I am going to set up an account at Cornell as well. Then it probably stores the information. Could help with all sorts of bird-related research. I supposed that is whey they made the app.

Yep! It is a really cheap way to monitor population migration, extinction, and a whole bunch of other stuff and make people happy. Basically a win win

Spot on.
It does, Man is so happy he is running around lol. He loves nature, we both do, but he seems to be particularly enamoured of it all. So this keeps him happy.
No, he does not have his own phone, but he can get this on his tablet I am sure. lol
