I spend more time raising other people’s children to be responsible, respectful, and kind. When they aren’t, it’s up to the school to fix it. We have many with trauma and anxiety disorders who get the only counseling available from school guidance. And we just had layoffs.

Thank you for all the good you're doing. So many things are being ignored by schools these days. I see the problem as being K-12 being under the control of state and local politicians instead of a national program. Hang tough.

Local control—with educators making decisions for the children in front of them—is still the most preferable. Any distance between the teacher and the children will only worsen outcomes. I started my career with NCLB and the farce of RTTT. I’m struggling to stay.

I think we're probably saying the same thing. I see state and local politicians deciding what subjects will be taught or ignored and what services are available. It's ugly. Educators have little control despite professional and personal qualifications.
