In 1936, my mother was 7 years old.

The history so many want us to forget as "so long ago" wasn't *that* long ago at all.

When I see things like this sometimes I lose my breath knowing we lived in a country where white people could grab Black people for whatever arbitrary reason they chose, violently end their lives, parade the murders at picnics, and life just went on. We were disposable humans for centuries.

And it still hasn't improved by much.

For every conviction we see of a white person that's killed a Black person, there are so many murders that haven't been resolved, or the charges thrown out, or the murderer acquitted.

The same people who want you to "get over it" can't get over losing the Civil War. In South Carolina I'm surrounded by these losers.
