A similar story was relayed to me by a woman who married the son of her parents' best friends. Perfect gentleman until the night of their marriage. He beat her up and told her he would be the boss. She left him immediately and both sets of parents pushed her to go back to him.

As if the abusers wear a mark on their heads so they can be easily identified!!

Former friend's fiance was the picture of gentlemanly while dating. He threw a chair at her on their honeymoon telling her that she "belonged to him now"

he hid his inner monster until she couldn't easily get away

Heard this kind of story a lot...people pushing the abused to reconcile with the abuser. Really common in religious households

Not sure if this case was about religion but the parents were embarrassed about the break-up because their friends had given gifts to the couple. This woman said she had no problem with returning the gifts. Apparently, the guys father was also an abuser.

She did. She stuck to her guns and never went back after leaving.
