Our dog isn't exactly a guard dog, but he is an excellent early warning device. He has a specific bark for strangers at the door (NEW FRIEND?! HI HI!!) and one for a non-resident in the house (FRIEND FRIEND SO MUCH HAPPY!).

I hear either one, and I'm up immediately, with a baseball bat at hand.

That's another reason to have pets. They know the noises that belong to your house and those that don't.

I always say no one will sneak up on us with our little dog around, even if she wouldn't last long in a fight. 💕

We joke that Henry will terrify anyone sneaking in because they'll think he's attacking when really he's a poorly-behaved menace who jumps on new people to show his joy at meeting them.

I should add, he doesn't do it when we're there to use his stop command. But if we're sleeping or otherwise occupied and someone comes in uninvited... *shrug*
