When I was up close and personal with one of my all-time favorite paintings while visiting MOMA in NYC, I wasn’t looking at the frame. (Although it is gorgeous, too). 🤩

You really can't fully appreciate his paintings in reproduction. In person you can see the depth of emotion in every every stroke. The first time I saw his self portrait and one of his bedrooms at the National Museum in DC it brought me to tears.

Agree! I recently was able to see several of his paintings at The Met in Manhattan and it really made my whole day!

The Met is on my list but the last time we were in NYC we only had time for MOMA. He really is worth all the praise and hype, Also as someone who has struggled with depression my who life I have so much empathy for him. I just wish his story hadn't been so tragic.

He was a brilliant artist, and yes, depression is not easy to live with or always control. Wishing you wellness & peace. 💕

Ps - The Met is definitely worth it if you get a chance to go to Manhattan. We went with my daughter & SIL on their “farewell” tour of NYC before they moved from Brklyn to WI.

What a fun goodbye tour. I live about an hour south of WI. We had two nights in Manhattan and saw Hello Dolly on Broadway, another play at the Armory, and did MOMA so it was a whirlwind. I definitely want to spend more time there.
