African American women of the 6888th Battalion delivered millions of pieces of mail during World War II. The “Six Triple Eight” was given just 6 months to complete this mammoth job. In the midst of bombing and fighting, they completed their job in half the time. #BlackHistoryMonth

This photo is deeply moving. Three of my uncles fought in WWII and wrote letters home. Perhaps these women were the ones who kept them in touch.
