From time to time term/age limits for the Federal courts come up. There is a wee bit of a problem. Sure Congress can pass a bill, but it'd still be unconstitutional. The US Constitution provides that most federal judges appointed for life. However, nobody saw the fuckery of the Regan era.

You know the Federalist Society, the Heritage Foundation, and other ne'er do wells. That is, they shaped the right wing of America to extremism, and have lists for Supreme Court justices to undermine progress. Also, the original thought was that federal judges were supposed to be above politics.

However, as time came on, those who wanted to do the right thing, appointed jurists who would make the tough decisions based on law. While the same ne'er do wells had decided they want judges for special treatment...only to be gassed when everybody else plays by those rules.

Should there be court reforms? Yes. Do they need to be Constitutional? Yes. That is, a straight-up term limit by Congress is a clash with Article 3 of the US Constitution that says that judges are there for life. They may retire if they wish. Many do retire, and some stay on till death.

However federal judges are still subject to (term limits, age limits, or not) to being removed by impeachment and expulsion by congress. The last time a us Federal Judge was removed was in 1984. This judge, Harry E. Claiborne, was removed.

This was after he spent two years in prison for falsifying tax returns. Also consider this...even if there were term limits/age limits...how can we stop the BS of judicial appointments by Federalist Society lists? Also how can we stop the influence of people like Trump to put in cowards?

This is something that must be discussed. However, Congress putting in a code of ethics, an expanding the Supreme Court is constitutional...and is within Congress' power that won't clash with the constitution. Also term/age limits would require a herculean amendment process.
