In a way, Orwell missed the mark in '1984', because he did not know of the tremendous power of a global communications network that would prey upon the natural tendencies of people to look down upon people they did not recognize as being "worthy" and then using their own tools to DESTROY LIVES.

As far as '1984' was concerned, I don't think he could conceive that global communication would NOT be a function of governments, who would not let go of a tool that made propaganda so easy to disseminate. As to the other stuff, of course they were all white; no one of dark skin was sophisticated!🙄

Amen to that!

It's funny. You think about people like him, like the Founding Fathers, and for some of their more progressive thought, at the end of the day they couldn't completely set aside their prejudices.
