I can still remember sitting at the top of the basement steps when I was home with the measles (pre vaccine days) and watching my mother run this thing along with two big wash tubs. It fascinated me but now I know what a pain in the butt laundry day was for 5 kids and two adults.

No dryer, clothes were hung out on the line and in the winter they were hung in the basement and the monstrous coal furnace dried them.

She used it up until her early 70's when it broke and it couldn't be repaired.. I took her out and she bought an automatic washer and dryer that we put in her large kitchen. I came home from VA one Friday night and she had clothes in the dryer and I teased her. She discovered bounce april fresh
