H5N1 is bird flu.
Influenza vaccines this year contained H1N1 (caused 2009 pandemic and is now one of the seasonal flu strains), H3N2, B/Victoria, and B/Yamagata

H5N1 has jumped to humans. There has been one death, and very high farm cat mortality. It has pandemic potential.
Unapologetically Beth @bostrawski
Flu isn't new.
Not a fair comparison.

A friend of mine contracted bird flu in the lab about a decade ago. I caught it from him. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I can't compare that experience to Covid-19 because I've never had it despite approximately 15 students per course being infected for years.
