These names exist in 2024.

The legacies of sites with names such as Squaw Lake, Minn., and Dead Negro Spring in Oklahoma endure, even amid a national push to remove Confederate monuments and change designations of public buildings named for racists.

There's a sacred place in WA that white men chose to call C*nt Crack. A toilet is built on an ancient spring.

Someone I know is part of a long effort to bring change and stop the physical desecration of climbing, hiking, and to re-Native the names.

Colonizers are disgusting, and I am one of them.

You are not one of them. They would never get it like you clearly do.

It takes concentration, for me, still. I'll strive to live up to your estimation. My brother's the one deserving of credit - a white man in the system, making long plans and important incremental steps to literally decolonize the management of tribal spaces. I'm proud to be his sis.
