MY mother said marriage was death for a woman, and when you consider the tradition of the wife assuming the husband's name as an example, she wasn't wrong. 😉

The physical act of gestation and birthing was not devastating for me, but neither of two birthings was harmless (one c-section and one third degree tear) but the process of raising a child can be sacrificial, especially if one is doing all they can to survive. it's not easy.
