Close. My parents didn’t say “don’t come home until the street lights are on”. They used a different version. “Oh. You are still home. YOU MUST WANT TO CLEAN THE GARAGE.”.

This worked to get us out of the house and on our banana seat bikes until we knew the coast was clear.

You know how many of us were "allowed" to stay outside "Until the street lights came on" in summer?

Did you also have your mother/parent say to you early in on weekend mornings:

"Go outside and don't come back inside until the street lights come on"

Because I am that old.
