I knew I recognized the author's name. Shelley was in my oft read book, The Best Loved Poems of the American People that listed his poem 'Love's Philosophy'.

I first read that poem in high school, memorized the last two stanzas because it said everything about the vainglory of "great" men.

Also, you may recall he was the husband of one Mary Wollstonecroft, who wrote Frankenstein.
