I've played with AI a bit, it's basically like a small child who wants to be your best friend and best helper, but can only concentrate on a few things at once. It's very good for some very specific tasks, otherwise it's not yet ready for prime time, IME

The main issues I've encountered with AI story generators, where they don't measure up to a (good) human writer, are as follows:

1. Repetitive tone. Regardless of characters, setting, etc, they tend to have a certain tone and phrases they use.

2. They do not maintain continuity well

It's done wonders for composition professors, though. /s

People say AI can help you write resumes & cover letters, which is technically true, but it doesn't completely follow specific directions very well, & has a tendency to use repetitive phrasing or even completely make things up. I played w/that a bit, but IMO it's more work to get "help" from AI 🤔

Students don't care about that, though. They just want shortcuts. AI has been incredibly demoralizing for many of us in my profession.
