Even if that were true, is that a reason for a mistrial? Isn't it the job of the defense to cross exam Daniels and poke holes in the story? I'm not a lawyer or anything, but I thought that was how it worked.

Trump's lawyers move for a mistrial, based on the testimony of Stormy Daniels, who they say broke the guardrails she was given and also gave a new version of her story.

Basically, they want a mistrial because the witness told the truth in a way they did not expect.

I honestly think they want a mistrial because they are not competent enough to put up a solid defense.

Merchan also told the defense team to get their act together so you know these lawyers are as high quality as Trump's businesses.

Apparently Merchan denied the mistrial and said he was surprised the defense didn't object more.
