It's the law in NJ, however, since it is the law, NJ should be funding it (State mandate, state pay here) but the rehabs and rescues run on donations.

Yes... Thank you! I have friends in my area who are licensed wildlife rescuers for possums, racoons, and squirrels. They're always lugging around crates with the really young ones because they need constant feeding and care. It's A LOT of work (and mess)!

You are so right. Rescues save the counties and states time and money. They should be respected more and get benefits as long as they qualify and are registered as a rescue.

Wildlife rehab is mandatory, joe and jane doe can't care for injured/abandoned wildlife.

BC it is mandatory, the state should have a mechanism to fund wildlife rehab. Even NJ Fish & Wildlife is heavily dependent on volunteers.

Yes... Should be funded if it's the law. My friends are always setting up donation pages: otherwise, they just pay for expenses on their own
