In keeping with the spirit of reflecting on great moms & not projecting my complex bs onto this day & motherhood.

Taking a detour from human mothers. One of my favorite mothers in the animal kingdom is the orangutan. She keeps her child close for almost a decade. Has one of the closest bonds 🦧 ❤️

So when I think of moms who are very close with their children even as they grow. I don't automatically think of a mama bear. I think of a mama orangutan. But I do understand why some moms would rather be likened to a bear than an orangutan 😆 Personally I find them beautiful & cute

They definitely create more children that are theirs. But don't play as direct a role in their life. Probably cause there's usually one male orangutan who mates with all the females. And they have a matriarchal society so the papa orangutan is not expected to have an active role in parenting.
In response to Andrew Senior.
