More about the court ordered redo of a Harris County, TX 2022 judicial election, Tami Pierce(R) vs incumbent Judge Jones(D). Court said it found 1,430 illegal votes. Jones won by 449. It didn't say who got the majority of those votes. Appeal from Jones is likely. #Politics #Elections #Texas #Courts

"In the findings of fact and conclusions of law, Peeples said 983 votes cast in the 2022 race were determined to be invalid because voters lived outside Harris County or had other residency-related issues."

"Additionally, 445 voters did not show a valid form of photo identification and 48 mail ballots lacked required signatures or were not received before the deadline."
Harris county should have caught these issues. If these votes made it into the final count, that's a problem.

You're thinking from 2022?! Yes. We've had so many Republicans challenging elections it's taken forever for them to work through the courts. It bothers me that these haven't been handled in a timely manner. Seems a disservice to the voters.

I've seen these bad votes refered to as both illegal and invalid, but it doesn't appear that there was any criminal intent, no intentional election tampering. These are everyday errors that should have been caught.

Yes, I'm always aware of the language we get from our Republican judges. Judge Peeples said due to the invalid votes the election was too close to determine. Fairly sure that means Jones won. I'm not sure if the judge is drawing in some legal "too close to call" rule or it's his personal feeling.

If he's a Republican, it's safe to assume his personal feelings. Of course, too close to call. Also means we need to try another recount to see if we can find the opponent more votes.

If Jones's appeal isn't successful, there will have to be a whole new election, which might even be moot at that point because by then Judge Jones might be on the TX Supreme Court. All of this is way too slow. Just wait for the challenges to roll in in 2024! 😱
