When will the US Democrats learn that to secure the election they need to change their position on expats and provide (no cost) relief to millions.

For “US persons” residing outside of the US:

1) end citizenship based taxation;
2) end FATCA reporting; and,
3) end FBAR reporting.

Compliance with these laws costs more for both the US & “US persons” than any revenue or benefit gained.

US persons residing overseas benefit from being a “US person” as much or as little as non-“US persons” residing overseas.

“US persons” are citizens & permanent residents (green card holders).

If US citizens residing outside of the US were a state it would be about the size of say Arizona. But that’s spread across all states, including *every* swing state.

Do the right thing, which just so happens to also be the smart thing.

As it stands, being a “US person” living outside of the US is a liability, not a benefit, and not a privilege, and not a safety net (for the vast majority that live in peaceful countries).

So, if you ate a “US person” living in Australia, you will pay higher taxes than if you were living in the US - so, not tax dodgers.

Australia has AusTrack which has the same function of detecting money laundering & terrorism financing as the FBAR & FinCen do, so it’s duplicated and unnecessary.

And, if the Marines have to come and rescue you, it will be at cost.

The US does not pay for the hospitals, the police, the schools, the roads, or for our defence. We pay our own way.

So, what right does the US have to extract wealth in the form of taxes, and labour in the form of compliance from people residing here?m

It makes absolutely no sense, and it’s morally indefensible.
