Don't forget that growing up white women are constantly told to "not rock the boat" and there's "a time and a place" which is certainly not in public. I'm not excusing no one having the ovaries to walk out but I'm also not at surprised by it. It takes work to overcome our patriarchal training.

I'm curious why no one walked out on that Harrison Buttkiss commencement speech. Was the college a super conservative one where the women, even tho they are getting degrees, believe what he said?

I agree but still not surprised. If one had done it I bet others would have followed but it takes enormous courage to be the one in that setting and don't forget parents were there and embarrassing your parents opens up a whole can of worms.
