The Noongar seasons are based on millennia of observations and where I live in southwestern Australia, much more useful than summer-autumn-winter-spring. We’re now into djeran, with its cooler nights (yay!). My favourite season is djilba, when wildflowers abound 💕 #westernaustralia

What’s your latitude? I wonder if the east coast has the same phenomenon - the nights were cooler a week ago but changed again over the last few days…

Latitude will be one variable, with the six Noongar seasons starting at different times from north to south. However, many other factors at play too. Would be interesting to see what the lore is where you live.

Not aware of it really. We’ve lost touch with the Indigenous seasons here. Though I look at the different native flowers that bloom throughout the year, and they probably are the better seasonal indicators.

Thought I’d check BOM website as they have a few calendars. Found this for you. Very interesting!
