It would be cool to have a lexicon of indigenous peoples denononyms and preferred denonomyms.
We've two tribes in my part of the world ... the Seminole and Miccosukee tribes. Both are, to my understanding, offshoots of the Creek tribes of the Carolinas and there names are from the Creek language.

I just read this morning that Navajo is a pejorative foisted on the indigenous people of Arizona by the Spanish and the preferred denomonym is Dinè.

Yes, there are many names that are wrong, and we in Canada are slowly trying to fix that, along with renaming waterways and land. It is a slow process but progresses is being made.
