Republican policies are deadly. Like for real - not hyperbole. This paper reviews pre-COVID data, so the increasing mortality gap between Dem- and Rep-voting counties is likely due to Republican resistance to expanded Medicare and 'Obamacare.'

The gap between red and blue states is about to narrow as our vaccines wear off and blue states drop all safety precautions.

I'm more optimistic - Vaccine dev't will continue to evolve to catch up to variants, and incidence of people getting annual boosters will remain high where vaccine compliance is already high (e.g. bluer states). Areas with bad vx compliance and diminishing access to hospitals will suffer, sadly.

I don't think annual Covid boosters are adequate. The mRNA vaccines appear to lose their protection at 5 to 6 months. I hope Novavax or other protections will last longer and be made available. The CDC seems to be extremely lackadaisical about Covid.
