In 1963, nearly 2/3 of whites told Gallup pollsters than Black folks were treated equally in their communities. In 1962, 87 percent said Black kids had the same chance to get a good education as white kids.

The lesson? White denial is an intergenerational phenomenon. Listen to Black people.

That's a logical leap though I'm sure other data support the "lesson".

And the denial was--and still is--coupled with ignorance, the addressing of which seems to be improving.
