Last yr the state allocated $1.3B to build 2 new 4,000-bed mega prisons, which included $400M of federal COVID-relief funds. Now Ivey wants to spend $100M for prisons that Alabamians thought they’d already paid for. Ivey’s $1.3B no-bid prison plan is now a $1.4B plan, and believed will only grow.

Interesting. Aren’t most prisons these days for-profit enterprise? Shouldn’t the people who are profiting off of these presents be the one paying to build them?

You mean because the 2 biggest private prisons, Florida-based GEO Group had 2019 revenues of $2.4B, & Tennessee-based CoreCivic had $1.981B in 2019 revenues? You'd think that was the case wouldn't you.
