I wish more people would understand the true argument of 2nd Amendment. "Well-regulated" militia vs. "Shall not be infringed" was and still is about slavery/white supremacy. 1/?

Slaveholding states were afraid that they would be "well-regulated" out of slavery & not able to squash slave rebellions. James Madison tried to assure the likes of Patrick Henry and George Mason that individual rights to bear arms were concurrent with the the well-regulated militia. 2/?

But Patrick Henry and George Mason (who never signed the Constitution) did not believe him. So the words, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" was added to make slave owners comfortable with the 2nd. And look at the arguments we still have today. 3/?
