We're in the middle of a slow moving c1vil w4r. One not being fought with bull3ts, but in the houses of gov't and the judicial system. And it's been going on since John Roberts was appointed to the Supreme Court. But the Democratic party didn't notice it then.

Dem leaders barely notice it now. I see little acknowledgment, much less firm action. I don't know where we're headed, but I don't wanna go.

Well the "Restrict act" proposed by Democratic senator Mark Warner, would eliminate free speech on the internet and give gov't control over it, China style. Additionally, the 2024 military budget contains funding for attacking China listed in a budget line.

So, no regs on soc media, & no defense budget for those who are rising threats?

I don't think we need regs on social media. Keep off the hate speech. That's about the only thing that I think should be censored. As to rising threats, who are they? And why should they be considered rising threats?

Come on. You're not ignorant of what's going on around the world.
As far as soc media, it isn't about content, but what China is doing thru TicToc. Spying is frowned upon in the US, no?

or keep dissident USA voices silenced via the app. Finally, the Democratic sponsored "Restrict act" is an attack on freedom of speech and the equivalent of the Patriot Act for the internet. Where everybody in the US could be a thought criminal. 4/4.

Lastly, I mentioned Twitter files, because of the security state's involvement in censoring social media. TikTok, as a company and its function, is no different than Twitter or Facebook. The only difference to the United States is they cannot censor TikTok or keep dissident USA voices silenced via

The problem in that article is an easy fix for reporters. Keep tick tock on your personal phone and not your work phone. Especially if you're doing sensitive reporting.

Do you remember the Twitter files? It's not much different than what the US has been doing. I remember a few years ago the usa was stopping reporters going through customs and demanding access to the contents of their phone and social media. 1/2
