My husband works for a large company where it’s Assistant Managers (who aren’t married or cohabitating) can’t afford to live on their own. That’s just WRONG! These are people making between 38k to 45k per year. We live on L.I. The cost of living here is astronomical. Salaries haven’t kept pace.

My biggest pet peeve is when conservatives complain that raising the minimum wage will put small businesses out of business. First, most small businesses already pay above minimum and if any business has to pay below poverty wages to survive, that's a problem with the business not the workers.
