I've seen it (using binoculars) from the light polluted skies of SoCal. I've also photographed it (poorly) using long exposures (5-10 seconds).

Also remember that tonight is NOT the ONLY night to see it! Tonight's the night it's closest to Earth, but it will still be there for weeks, just fading.
