Yes, the party supports incumbents because they would rather use resources to pick up new seats. While there are some in the party I would love to say goodbye to, I also realize there are some districts that will elect a Republican over a progressive anyone.

But they squander resources to protect anti-choice male incumbents from pro-choice female primary challengers. They don't just support these guys in name; they spend lots of money on them.

Using those resources depletes the resources they could be using to flip Republican seats. So, defeatist.
