Interesting to note:

When antebellum members of Congress were censured and resigned, they sometimes ran for re-election and won—by massive margins, thereby returning to Congress with a real mandate.

With such dominant numbers in the TN Leg and GOP Gov, it seems conceivable they'd pass bills like these: 1) if a member is expelled, the Gov picks the replacement, 2) an expelled member may not re-run for the same seat.

Thinking this may backfire on TN GOP - by disgusting some Republicans, energizing Democrats, and getting non-voters to the polls. Many of us in TN are horrified by our legislature.

Funny that you mention antebellum, because TN -- and other legislatures -- aren't inching their ways toward Civil War... they are running full speed. How long before a secession vote,I wonder?
