As a government employee, I was required to take ethics training on a regular basis. It was made clear to me that I couldn't accept gifts - not so much as a pencil or a box of cookies.

They didn't cover yacht cruises.

I have to do this in the private sector, too, regardless of which company I’m working for.

In addition to ethics training, being in a policy position I also had to file yearly financial disclosure to the state commission on ethics and lobbying.

I find Thomas's pretending that he doesn't know the difference between dinner at someone's home & a private jet/yacht/tropical island vacation, beyond insulting. He obviously thinks we are all very stupid.

They made sure to cover non exceptional gifts for the small people. They knew whose backs to cover SMH.

The double standard is so glaring. Needless to say, they have been doing it for decades. The institution will always protect the rich, no matter what they do.
