Capitalism can't work for healthcare. No one shops around for trauma care after they've had an accident. You don't get to choose what ambulance will get you when you're having a heart attack. The basic driving forces that keep costs under control in capitalism are not applicable for healthcare.

Capitalism is never applied to police budgets they suck money away from the social good and their ineffectiveness is the proof they put forward to get more money not less

Capitalism should only apply to life's optional extras, not necessities.

I'm an economist & work in healthcare. Couldn't agree more. Healthcare access & coverage are public goods, not market-driven consumer goods. And insurance is the wrong way to pay for it, because insurance is for things that are rare, unpredictable and catastrophic. Good healthcare's the opposite.

Capitalism only temporarily keeps costs down at the best of times. Only until the competing companies become large and realize its better to collude amongst each other to fix prices and keep smaller competitors frozen out.

Which is when anti-trust laws are supposed to protect us. But guess who gutted those too?

Capitalism is completely antithetical to health care. No business can thrive if the goal is to never see your "customers" again because they have been made healthy. The financial incentive is to keep the "customer" sick and needing care.

Exactly. From both perspectives it doesn't work.
