I've seen it happen in the past on Twitter, mostly when Trump was in office and Bush would occasionally try to rehabilitate himself by saying something reasonable. Romney is another one who falls into this category -- he says one good thing and all of a sudden he's a good guy to some folks.

Pointing out when a former standard bearer of said party is also agreeing that tfg is a threat seems reasonable to promote. I don’t believe anyone is under the illusion that it would absolve him of all the damage he caused.
