“I know that starting my career as third gender – I was gender neutral – limited me. But I thought I could be just an artist, a person, not a gender. [...] I’m very aware that I’ve been the engineer of some of the things that have held me back.”

In response to Didymus.
Ps. I know that in recent years Toyah has started referring to "Ladies and gentlemen and all those smart enough to be neither" or words to that effect in her live shows.

As a long term non-binary fan of hers, it means *THE WORLD* to be seen by someone you admire.

It's none of my business how Toyah now choses to identify. But that deep rooted sense of being 'other' is probably what drew me to her as a child, and stuck with me ever since.

There's nobody quite like Toyah. Absolutely ahead of her time.
